I'm also a Chronic pain patient and have degenerative disc disease from my neck all the way down my back,hips,knees,feet. I have a great Dr who prescribes my medication and is very educated about this life saving medication. What I take keeps me out of a motorized wheelchair most of the year and I like that a lot!

I think I'm the 1st poster here in this section,what an honor...

HELLO TO EVERYONE. I THINK THIS IS GREAT TO HAVE A SITE FOR METHADONE PATIENTS THIS MEDICATION SAVED MY LIFE 15 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I AM ON METHADONE AS I AM AN RECOVERING ADDICT AND ALWAYS WILL BE.BUT, I FEEL VERY STRONG PHYSCOLOGICING INLY I'VE BEEN COMING DOWN ON MY DOSE JANUARY 2008 I WAS ON 120ML. Hello Kika, and welcome to the new Forum!! I think its great that Dave has done this for the methadone community! There are of course other sites that have been up and running for a very long time, but this one is kinda neat because it is brand spankin new! Gives us a chance for a new place to go and if you want to kinda Start over...And i love what you said Kika "Whats done is done" Ain't that the truth :!:

LOL. And glad to hear that you are doing so well with your taper, let us know how it goes. and maybe you can give tips to others that are going thru the same thing! Thats what i love about these places, you can almost bet 99 percent that someone has gone thru, or is going thru some of the same things that we are dealing with or having trouble with! It's great...Well bye for now and i hope everyone is having a great after Thanksgiving day!

Or is it really named after Hitler.....No In Latin Dolophine means Dolo means pain and Phne end...
another myth dealt with..
"Oh it gets in your bones and rots your teeth" No,when you were abusing did you go to the dentist 3 x's a year to get your teeth checked? I know I didn't,but actually No it does not get into your bnes or change the color to orange. If anything you will start to feel better now that your not abusing whatever your DOC was. Each day gets better and good things start to happen in your lfe.

Dad always told me it was originally invented by the german scientists under the rule of Aadolph Hitler and was originally called Adolphine but later changed. While many articles I've read say the Church of Scientology backs up the claim saying it is a fact that at one time dolophine was called adolphine there are many other articles that say it's untrue and that the name adolphine was never used.

Maybe some big drug company or companies just don't want to relate the name to Adolph Hitler and just say it's untrue or maybe it is untrue and just a myth that got circulated some how, It's an interesting subject though.

Please don't tell me you really said that Methadone was named after Hitler? Thats one of the biggest myths that we have to dispell. Dolo in latin means pain and phine means end...the end of pain. It actually started out as a number and went through a couple names before ending up Dolophine and Methadone.

Ah! It surprises me that Germans discovered this new drug. But, like everything else, radical, they thought of came with its set of side effects, methadone is no exception. In fact, methadone can cause serious side effects like insomnia, hypotension, etc if not consumed under supervision or if the dose is not regularized.

Woah! Using methadone as a pain killer can not only kill the pain but also the patient consuming the drug. Methadone can prove to be dangerous in certain situations of unrestricted consumption. Hence, it is necessary that methadone should be consumed under strict prescription of a medical practitioner.

Are we still discussing the Hitler myth?
I know this is a new methadone forum. I guess I am just surprised at how NEW some of the posters seem to be.
Methadone programs have been part of my life for almost 40 years now.Without missing a dose!
Myths are being debunked here plus at a few well known methadone sites and let us not forget google
and UTUBE has some excellent videos regarding the myths v/s the truths.
Also a small tip off.
There are a few vicious HATE groups that would love to make methadone illegal. These evil doers :twisted:

have nothing better to do but read methadone forums & copy all of the things we write that they consider'our bad'.
Then they send them to congressmen, mayors, Newspaper writers, TV reporters, senators and everyone who has a say in methadone
laws & changing them.What we write on a public forum is public and they do use it all against us ,clinics and Pain mgt. Drs. too.

How much is your bill? How much do you like to write about methadone and how many people can you get to register here at the forum who would be active members?

My methadone bill is $91 a week plus $50 a week for gas. I can write about methadone ALOT and also get people to sign on to this web site.
However my loyalties are with another group and website. BUT like you say anything is possible. I guess things could possibly change if another
group would pay my clinic expenses :mrgreen:

after being on mmt as long as I have it is getting harder to pay every week.especially with more than 1 person in household on it.
If you'd pay mine that would be terrific. If not, it was a nice thought.Thanks

$90 a week, Must be private, that's about twice as much as the local public clinics around here. You say, your loyalties are with another group and website which sounds like you've been there a while. It's great you have somewhere you like enough to make that claim. When you get a chance, check your pm.

Hey . NOT DOING GOOD

I have been a Chronic pain pat. for 5 Years . I was recently cut off my meds. I have been checking all of the different opitions out there. So i went to a clinic . I waited three hours 2 see a Dr. After that wait and paying the 91 dollars . The dr said we r not a pain clinic this is a methadone clinic. I have a problem with opiates , And i cant get help . I'm not using street pain relief. My life has turned upside down . Its bad enough that i deal with pain every day what to do losing hope

While it is true that programs do not deal with pain issues,they DO deal with opioid dependence which should be their 1st priority. So I would either go back to that program or find another and just tell them you have a problem with Opioid dependence. If the program is a good one they will find you a pain Dr,but dose you til it comes about. What State are You in? If it's CA I think I can help depending on what part of the state your in......
