I go by the name Reggie, I've been on methadone most my adult life. I've seen methadone clinics come and go. If your on methadone you should hope for strict but fare rules. If we do something wrong the worst would be kicked off the program. However if the Dr. or the nurse should do something that draws the D.E.A. attention a lot of times DEA will lock the doors, and believe me they don't care what happens to us. Sometimes the DEA will just say go to the Hospital and we know that don't work. When a new person gets on the methadone program they will ask what to do and what not to do, I tell them just play their game and don't rock the boat and leave as soon as you dose. You don't want to hang around and try to be everybody's friend because sometimes they will clean the person out. I've seen it happen a lot of times I guess I could write a book on that subject, there's some sad stories. |

Hey reg I to have been on methadone for 9 10 yrs and untill I move up here the clinics I went to in houston would not let you hang around, and the rules were all different to more laid back, they were all addicts themselves and knew what was up. these up here,I live in arkansas but was goin to the clinic in oklahoma til recently they are school counslors,in other words they were never junkies and they are strict, one bad ua and your back to phase 1 but like ya said,do your own thing ,get dosed and get gone, thats yer best bet have a good day all |

Hi Reg, I'm an old timer my self. I've been in and out of programs since 1974...this is my 3rd time on and I will always be on it now for pain control. For me it works very well. I've seen regulations come and go and now I help write them here in CA so patients have better care here. You get what put into it. If you want to stop all the street stuff and get a better life for yourself it can be had. 2 of my kids have issues with me being on methadone. I sent them Kristina's "Living Normal" and haven't heard anything back from them. This is my life and they are grown and with kids of their own. I wouldn't change a day.....It's been a learning path, thats for sure... LP |
