Some folks on higher MG of methadone take it twice in 24hrs. They may take half of their daily dose in the morning and 12 hours later take the other half. I'm in no way recommending you should do this or that it would work best for you. I'm just letting you know that it works best for some folks.
I agree with what you say about getting increased higher may be more difficult to detox from. Someone I know on 180MG Methadone, just yesterday told me he doesn't want to go higher just for that reason, He said 'what goes up... must come down' - while not always the case, it often is the case that for what ever reason at some point methadone patients do decrease the MG.Dave
